Second Nature

The fashion industry is one of the biggest polluters on Earth. There is an incredible amount of waste involved in creating products with harmful resources for fast fashion. It is the second only to oil as the world’s largest polluter. The fashion industry is also responsible for producing 20% of global wastewater, using textiles with around 3500 different chemicals. Hazardous production for the garment workers are under extremely dangerous conditions with long hours and little pay. Even with all these disturbing facts about the fashion industry, fast fashion is predicted to increase 60% by the year of 2030 and continues to grow.

We as a society still have work to do to reduce the use of fast production. Thrifting has become the number one option for many to reduce carbon footprint and slow down fast fashion. I am documenting people who are careful to consider their use of fashion choice by thrifting or up-cycling their own clothes.
