Down the River

In the DOWN THE RIVER photography series, I am focused on the Parisian Tourist. Living in the most popular touristic destination, the tourist became an obvious subject.

I tried to approach this series in the same way I work on street photography: to find an extraordinary moment within the ordinary.

I was first attracted by the aesthetic of the boat shot from the top with their colorful seats and the water surrounding them. I found it interesting to look at people looking at Paris : the different behaviour of the tourists, the position of their body, the relation they have between each other and the emotion of the moment.

I wanted to look at people looking at Paris. As a parisian, I don't notice The Eiffel Tower, The Louvre or Notre Dame Cathedral anymore and it's quite ordinary for me. So I wanted to catch the moment where tourists were looking at those monuments for the first time, eyes fully open.
