As photo students, the first thing we are taught is that photography is all about light. We are taught how to control and manipulate light. How to create imagery utilizing the light. The more I learned about the importance of light in my artwork, the more I noticed how beautiful light truly is. We experience light so often and so beautifully it is taken for granted. The patches of light that shine through the window each morning, the golden atmosphere that is created right before the sun sets, and the soft brightness the moon creates at night. Light in itself is magical, the forms it creates are dynamic. My current body of work explores light and shadow through abstraction. Finding light in our world and manipulating it into familiar forms. Abstracting the light into something more tangible, something worth taking the time to explore. Emphasizing the striking constant light creates through an abstract color palette.
