Waiting Room

A photograph is more than just a picture, it's a story of a point in time. As a photographer, I want to show stories, and what better stories do we have than our own? Through my photographs I've shared where I came from, where I am now, my ups, downs, hopes, dreams, fears, and my imagination.

Different mediums have allowed me to share my story in various forms. I've worked with digital and analog photography, various types of printmaking like Cyanotypes and Intaglio, painting, drawing, and last, but not least, sculpture. I enjoy blending various mediums because it is interesting to see how the different mediums will interact and influence each other.

Recently I have completed a project titled, “Waiting Room.” The series consists of ten self-portraits shot on a Canon EOS 70D. At the beginning of this project, I was a few short weeks from graduating and transitioning into a new chapter in my life. This series expresses how I felt during that period; like waiting in a waiting room. I felt that way because I had been waiting to graduate to work on ideas and to figure out what I wanted to do next.

I can reflect on my life experiences through photographs and other mediums. By utilizing photography as a tool for self-reflection, these experiences have taught me new lessons. I hope to pass on these lessons I have learned through my works of art, and hopefully inspire others to share their stories.
