“Nothing in life is to be feared; it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more so that we may fear less.”  Marie Curie, the first woman to win a Nobel Prize in Physics, 1903 and again in Chemistry in 1911. The CCS Photography class of 2020 know this well and have had to adjust their expectations in regard to their futures and the future of our shared humanity.  The CCS Photography department is proud that we have guided, educated and provided these graduating seniors with the professional skills needed to navigate an uncertain world.  We are proud to see how these seniors adjusted and moved forward in spite of the global pandemic. Their ability to maneuver change and continue to learn amongst the current health and economic challenges is a testament to their dedication to their craft and the dedication of the Photography department to their growth.

They have acquired the highest standards for both technical and aesthetic aspects of photography, and are conceptually aware and connected to both local and global cultural and social issues. After graduation, they will tell our collective stories with their images through multiple lens; documentary and editorial essays, fashion and product photography, advanced degrees. While on different paths, all of them are committed to the continued pursuit of excellence through self-learning, critical thinking, openness to diverse perspectives and awareness of the photographer’s role in society.
